I read this book in elementary school back in the 1970's and remembered its title all my life. I found it again on Albris to read to my kids. My 9 year old girl and 10 year old boy really loved it. It is about a young teen who loses her eyesight and learns to relive her life without the benefit of sight. She attends a school for the blind, but in the end wants to lead a "normal" life at the public school near her home. With the help of a guide dog named Trudy, her dream is realized. My daughter loves dogs, so that aspect was especially appealing to her. Both my children really learned a lot through this book -- like the challenges presented to someone with a disability and how they can overcome them.
