I received an early edition of the book yesterday. It has a red and gray cover. I plan to use it to refresh my knowledge of linear algebra and matrices. The book very clearly explains those concepts, as well as their applications. Highly recommended.
A very clear book, though somewhat eccentric. I'm not sure the newer versions are worth the extra money for most applications, if you can get an inexpensive used version of this book.

A comprehensive review of the subject.
This is the text book for his course on the OCW MIT YouTube videos. The course follows the text and having the text to refer to enhances the teaching in the video. This is a more complete exposition than is found in older texts in my possession. He emphasizes a method that is used in calculators. After watching a few lectures I was determined to get a better grasp of the subject. The book helps me in reaching this goal.
