Great introduction to the field
This book is a fantastic survey of the beginnings of machine consciousness. As there is a lack of books on machine consciousness in particular, this should be the starting point for anyone who wants to seriously get into the field. Though the book is getting to be a bit old, the research contained within provides the foundation for the field.
