"Saddle him for me,"-peremptorily. "I desire to ride him. I find Jane isn't exciting enough." "Pardon me, Miss Annesley," he said, "but I had rather you would not make the attempt." "You had rather I would not make the attempt?"-slowly repeating the words, making a knife of each one of them, tipped with the poison of her contempt. "I do not believe I quite understand you."
