Mandaic Incantation Texts is the revision of his dissertation, which was originally published in 1967 in the American Oriental Society monograph series. It includes a collection of the earliest Mandaic texts, which are magic scrolls and inscribed bowls, dating from about 600 C.E., together with transcriptions and translations, a grammar, and a lexicon. After teaching at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, until 1969, Professor Yamauchi taught at Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) until his retirement in 2005. He is the author of numerous books including Gnostic Ethics and Mandaean Origins (originally published by Harvard University Press, and recently reprinted by Gorgias Press) and Pre-Christian Gnosticism.
