This is a collection of the best short stories of Alice Sheldon, aka James Tiptree. Tiptree wrote a few novels too, but shorts were her best format. The stories are among the most wildly imaginative in all of science fiction - but that's to be expected from the premier female Sci-Fi author; sex aside, Tiptree is one of the best, period. This collection is a fine introduction to her work; essential reading for any serious SF fan. I can also highly recommend the recent autobiography of Tiptree by Julie Phillips 'James Tiptree Jr.: The Double Life of Alice B. Sheldon. It's an authoritative study of the author's life and accomplishments and make a fine addition to this short story collection.
