Despu???s de varios infructuosos intentos, Men???n se exaspera y aduce una paralizante disyuntiva: es imposible preguntarse por lo que uno no conoce, pues si no lo conoce, no sabe lo que est??? buscando, e incluso si lo encontrara, no sabr???a que lo ha encontrado. S???crates aprovecha la ocasi???n para explorar un nuevo dominio de conocimiento, el conocimiento a priori, cuya instancia m???s conocida son las matem???ticas. El Men???n termina en un aparente fracaso, pero su fecundidad se hace sentir aun hoy.
