Seller's Description:
Reader copy. READ CAREFULLY. This is the original Scholastic 1973 printing NOT a reprint. Light edgewear~ Age toned pages. A good reading copy with the picture of Mr Pudgins and the children driving the bathtub in the sky above the trees. 0620.
Mr. Pudgins initially published in 1951, had a second life, thanks to Scholastic Book Club publishing (SBC), in the mid 60?s to the early 70?s.
I came upon this thought provoking book after ordering it from the SBC flyer (which was handed out about every 5-6 weeks or so during the school year) in the mid 1960?s somewhere around 1965 ? 1967,
At a time of no internet, no electronic communications gadgets to be found (other than a pair of
Walkie-Talkies), and perhaps 5 or 6 television stations at most, this book was wondrous to a child of 9 or 10, and is almost timeless.
Mr. Pudgins, the pipe smoking model T driving loveable baby sitter causes amazing things to happen whenever he comes to ?sit? for the children in the story.
I identified with all three children, but mostly with the oldest, and would always daydream about having such a baby sitter and such adventures.
Read a copy of Mr. Pudgins yourself and then read or recommend it to a son or daughter or grandchild or anyone who has a love of children?s stories.
Mr. Pudgins is one of the best children?s books ever written, and certainly in my top 3!

Magical Baby-Sitter
Mr. Pudgins is a baby-sitter for three children with an antique car named Annabel and a pet dodo bird named Podo. Magical things happen when he smokes his pipe and the children have grand adventures when he keeps them to include flying around town in a bath tub, a circus in the backyard with local pets/animals, soda pop that runs out of the faucets which they resell to the neighborhood, and many more.
