For its genre and purpose, this book is great.
The Thernstroms provide quite a neutral and in-depth analysis of the facts troubling our nation today in the field of educational success...
I mean, they take on some sensitive subjects, like race and culture, and effectively discuss it with utmost respect but also critical evaluation.
I don't think just anyone will pick up this sort of book and love it. It's more geared towards those involved in education, especially those of educational authority. It has its flaws, but that doesn't overpower its strengths.
