Later chapters examine illegal lotteries, sports betting, drug trafficking, organized theft, money laundering, and other ways in which organized crime operates as a business. The text concludes with chapters dedicated to transnational criminal enterprises, organized crime around the globe, and strategies for responding to organized crime. Liddick, Jr. earned his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University in 1995. Since that time, he has served as an assistant professor and associate professor of criminal justice at the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg and Penn State University-Eberly Campus. Dr. Liddick has published dozens of research articles and six scholarly monographs, mostly in the area of organized crime.
