Goldie Hawn gives a marvelous performance as a bitchy, spoiled and unhappy rich girl who falls off her yacht, loses her memory, and is taken in by a local carpenter, who pretends she is his wife and the mother of his children. Kurt Russel is a convincing working guy, and it's also a treat to see a younger Edward Herrmann, who I only knew through Gilmore Girls, playing Hawn's neurotic sailor husband. The film abounds in barrel laughs and broad humor, but the magic for me was seeing Hawn's character transform. Overboard is a good reminder that money isn't everything!
