I do love this book. It is set in a fantastical China, before Communism. The book shifts between the past and the present, her schooling in the art of enchanting paper, and her journey with two foreigners through China. She will be continually tested in both times, and must learn to find the strength to press on. You'll root for her, cry with her, and cheer at the end--then cry because it is over and Cutter has not written a sequel! Simply a wonderful read.
