The album's cover doesn't accurately advertise what it contains; there is no large Purcell work called Sweeter Than Roses, just an exquisitely erotic single song. And the Purcell pieces are for the most part not presented as they were written; they are drawn from plays, operas, masques, and other vocal genres of the day, and accompanied only by a harpsichord they take on a certain sameness.
