The last and final installment of my Summer with Doris Day, was an utter disappointment. Not only is the book poorly written, but the author's sources are his "friends" like Tallulah Bankhead and Marlene Dietrich. Nothing against those ladies, they weren't anywhere near Hudson's inner circle. The reason I purchased this book in the first place was it's coverage of the suit brought by Hudson's last lover, Marc Christian, against the Hudson estate. After I had read "Rock Hudson: His Story," I was appalled to learn that Christian had actually won the suit, securing millions of dollars even though it had been over between him and Rock for some time and that Christian had been black-mailing the star -- talk about AIDS hysteria! This book does cover the trial. My advice, read "His Story," and then the last two chapters of this book (the author also includes a short essay on the author's theory as to how Hudson got AIDS [blood transfusion.])
