Beautiful color and b&w illustrations accompany the text. This is an early printing with the 1948 date on the verso of the title page. It was one of four Newberry Honor Award Winners in 1949. Original publisher's blue covers with white cover lettering. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates, there is a little wear to the bottom corner tips and the bottom edge at the spine.
