I have many, many books on drawing and I put this one at the lower third of the stack as to usefulness. Very little technical information is offered about how to capture an image realistically. Most of the sample art was clearly traced from photos, which the authors really don't hide. Not even a step-by-step is offered to demonstrate the claims. A better value would be Wendon Blake's The Drawing Book.

Exactly what I was looking for
Thank you Carrie and Rick for writing the best I ever layed my hands upon. I spent many years wasteing my husbands money on books that teaches nothing. I knew in my heart there was a book out there that can teach me exactly what my heart desires. I love the way you took my filters off and to see in a new light.
