Shabash by Ann Walsh (somehow listed under the title Napachee) is an excellent book. It is the story of an immigrant to a small town in BC trying to fit in and play on the hockey team. Aimed at the 9 - 12 year old reader it is a realistic story about childhood and the difficulties of doing what's right. Grade 5/6 students enjoy it as a novel study for part of their Canadian history unit. Immigration to Canada and the Canadian dream of playing hockey make this a very enjoyable story. Highly recommended.
