Â Nancy Cunard"s second volume of poetry, published during her early literary career before her move to Paris. Â Nancy Cunard (1896-1965) was an English writer, publisher, and political activist associated with the interwar avant-garde. Heiress to the Cunard shipping fortune, she became known for her anti-fascist work, her press promoting Black writers, and her role in 1920s and 1930s literary modernism. In the publisher's original dark cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Slight fading to extremities. Slight damp staining to edge of rear board, with tide marking to rear paste down. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Slight rubbing to boards. one or two minor handling marks. Internally, firmly bound. Hinges slightly strained in places but firm. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots and handling marks. Title and copyright page slightly loosened from being partially disbound lower gutter, but holding firm. Good.
