This astonishingly well crafted mystery is the first in what was supposed to be a series starring Detective Tessa Vance. Unfortunately the authors career has taken off in the children's book genre and so far we only have two books in the series. I first read this five years ago and every six months I still pick it up and every six months I curse Jennifer Rowe for not writing more. Tessa has a powerhouse of a mind and being with her in it is a dazzling reading experience. Watching her solve these murders, put the pieces together, take them apart and re-fit them, will please even the most discerning mystery fans. It's a classic who-dun-it taking place in Australia, the writing is fast-paced, the murder is mind-bending and the characters lovingly fleshed out. I can't recommend this enough.
