The book is a military training manual written by my Great-Grand Uncle Matthew Elting Hanna (known to my father's generation as Uncle Elting). He was in the Calvary and later a member of the American Consulate. He is buried in Arlington Cemetary.
The reason I purchased the book is two fold.
First because of its author and the fact that it was a first edition with a handwritten and signed dedication to My Great-Great Grandfather Robert Mason Hanna. My friends tell me its a one in a million chance that I found it. So if your looking for a used book like this don't give up. This site is great.
Secondly - I have been working on my family tree and want to preserve my heritage for my sons. They are both history buffs - so this finding was priceless. And by the way the only other first edition copy is priced at more than twice what I paid for this.
