Another volume from the excellent McDonald Monograph series, this book tells the story of the conception and development of Britain's first jet fighter in intimate and fascinating detail, including the origins and realization of the proof-of-concept E28/29 "Whittle" test bed aircraft. The Meteor story has been sadly neglected by in print, and this 40+ year old volume still fills an important gap in one's aviation history library.

Solid Meteor reading
Good coverage of early development and production. Nice part displaying production orders.
What I missed was more details regarding perfomance and armamament.
