This is a top drawer fantasy tale, definately a keeper in the collection. It follows life in a kingdom that makes me think of ancient italy. Only its Italy where the Michaelangelos and DiVincis are not only great artists, but able to perform magic through their art.
As with all good tales, there are those that would use their skills for good, and some that would use it for their own personal gain. Along the way you meet other notables that shape the changes to the kingdom over the course of 300 years. For such far reaching time scale of a tale, this book is very well tied together and shows the progression of the struggles for power and passion through the ages.
