I bought this for my granddaughter, 19, who is totally unfamiliar with the Bible. I enjoyed it so much I bought one for myself to read along with my own NIV. The Message is not a translation, it is a paraphrase of the Bible.

Clear and concise scripture
I love this bible because it makes scriptures that I have read many times before in other versions come alive for me. This allows me to read and experience passages, especially Jesus' sayings, in a fresh new way that has impacted me and made me more enthusiastic about reading God's word. I recommend it to anyone who is looking to breathe new life into routine bible study and fall in love with God's Word all over again. It's clear, easy to understand, plain everyday English. My only criticism is that Psalms lose some of their poetic beauty.
