I was introduced to the Random House handbook back in 1987 in high school. Thank you Mrs. Walters (my English teacher back then)!
My freshman year writing teacher used it as the class textbook back at Yale.
I use it now in the grammar/writing classes I teach part-time at a private tutoring academy.
The author gives excellent instruction in the process of essay writing. The grammar section is indispensable. The answer to any question a student will throw at you regarding English grammar is found in this book. This book is a "secret weapon" since everyone seems to think I am a grammar whiz and its all because of this little book.
