Louisa - whose own identity is shrouded in layers of mystery - is convinced Hastings has a connection to a notorious brothel. But bringing Hastings to justice will be more perilous than they anticipate - and their partnership will be more heated than either expects. Amanda Quick knows what it takes to write a good story. This was a very fast-paced, very good story in the true historical fashion. It has everything - blackmail, murder, and a good detective to solve the crimes.
The hero and heroine were very likeable and funny, and the cast of backup characters was entertaining, too.
