I've never read a D.E. Stevenson book that I didn't like and this one is no exception.

Delightful story
One of my favorite D.E. Stevenson novels. The story tells of two charming young career women on the brink of falling in love. They are friends quite different in appearance, but both fiercely loyal to each other and possessing the same values and beliefs of being true to oneself and others. The supporting characters are delightful, and the story makes interesting reading as the one of the characters, Barbie, travels from the crowded city of London to an ancestral home in Scotland. While in Scotland, she meets a family who who appeals to Barbie's beliefs regarding truth and honesty, discovers that a man she thought was deceitful was true to the core, and encounters an adventure when a child in the family is lost during a violent storm. All ends happily, the friends find their true loves, and they conspire together to help a neighbor's child, neglected by her mother, find a life that will allow her to enjoy the joys of childhood in beautiful Scotland.
