Two Sticks and A String" is not for the the raw beginner, but its designs are accessible and encouraging for someone only 2 years beyond squares and rectangles only--like me. The instructions are clear for the most part, although I wished ALL the abbreviations used in the book had been listed in the "Abbreviations" section--some are tucked into the individual patterns and not always right next to where they are needed. I also found it helpful in making the lush aran cabled cardigan to copy all the directions, cut up the cable pattern section and paste the directions for each panel in the order I used them--I think the author/publisher should have done that. But I still love the book for its unique and wonderful patterns. The photographs and line drawings are great! Nice and big, clear details. Very inspirational! A book I will return to again and again.
