This was a great biographical account of Van Gogh's artistic expressions which were described as being highly influenced by his moods. It tells of his struggles with other artists, poverty, and his difficulty selling his paintings. It is easy to read as it has large print, coupled with colorful illustrations. Not only would it be appropriate for 3-4th graders, but also would be excellent age appropriate content for adults, especially those who may have reading or vision limitations. If buying this for young elementary readers, one might want to exersize some discretion as the author does associate Van Gogh's last "angry" painting with his suicide. Be prepared to address that reality. That being said, this appears to be an accurate account of the artist. It is history. This book has tremendous educational and visual appeal!
