Set in an era when a government is in trouble with high numbers of casualties, Jim is thrust into an early trial of the technology. But as the soldiers are debriefed following their near death experience is it the form of the treatment that causes them to report such similar visions or have they really visited a life beyond this one? As Jim's tour comes to an end, he is forced to consider whether it might be possible to make such a visit himself.
