This book is very clearly written and presents information you need with just enough theory to make it make sense. I've been a self-taught designer for a number of years and it helped me fill in gaps about design quirks I'd seen but never quite understood. It has an especially nice explanation of the box model, and the CSS section contains a lot of great tips about things I didn't know you could do with CSS. I read it cover to cover and have pulled it off the shelf several times since. Highly recommended.
