In a chance encounter in the middle of the night, far beyond the safety of their forest, Skunk finds two of his most devoted tormentors hiding and frightened by the echoing cries of Coyote and the scary screeching of Owl. Skunk comes to the boys' rescue only to be severely wounded by Owl's talons and though he gets Tidy and Stilton home to Twisted Wood, his life hangs in the balance as everyone waits for this new hero to awaken and live.
