Soon they were holding annual two-week meetings in Boss's home in Zollikon, Switzerland. The protocols from these seminars, recorded by Boss and reviewed, corrected, and supplemented by Heidegger himself, make up one part of this volume. They are augmented by Boss's record of the conversations he had with Heidegger in the days between seminars and by excerpts from the hundreds of letters the philosopher wrote to Boss between 1947 and 1971.

Parts of the recent flow of materials from the manuscript materials are the entitled lecture series "The Essence of Truth" and "Being and Truth." The latter sports a candid snapshot from 1933. The earlier version, however, illustrates the notion of doxa and pseudos doxa, by quoting Herodotus: "Lord, Remember the Athenians" (Bk 5, 105)
Which De Selincourt provides: "The story goes that Darius.... who did not know who the Athenians were .... commanded a servant to repeat to him three times the words."
The apparently flawed reference to Herodotus yields to more impressionistic thoughts of the Baltic and Berlin in the later series.
