When I think of portraiture, I think of Sargent whose elegant painting captured the mood and personality of the late 19th century in all of their guile and wile!

Beautiful volume of Sargent's Best
Despite the weight of this marvelous "coffee table book", it's worth it to page through some of the best work of John Singer Sargent. So much nicer to see works of art as large as possible to have the full experience. This is a good book to start with.
