Having worked all his life as a 'jack-of-all-trades' in that community, he moved to Arnold's Cove, Placentia Bay in 1967 where he continues to fish and build boats. In 1971 at the age of seventy-four, he began with little formal education, to write down his recollections of times past as he himself experienced them and as he had garnered them from old people of his day."
