Dan Canby was a Texan, and a Rebel; but he didn't fight in the Civil War. He had his own fight--providing food and supplies for those left on the home front. He made a profit too. When the war ended the Carpetbaggers from the North arrived controlling who could or who could not sell, and whom to sell to. Canby didn't like that, and he was strong headed enough to fight back. This book tells it like it was in Texas after the war, fairly accurately I believe from what historical information I have read about it. Will Cook, the real name behind the Wade Everett name is the best writer of this type of 'western' there is. Don't let this one get away.
