Seller's Description:
Very good. Translated by Clive Wake. First published by Présence Africaine in 1973, Sembène adapted his mid-career satire of upper-class impotence into a film released two years later. This delayed mass-market tie-in wouldn't hit the shelves for another decade, published as part of Heinemann's African Writers Series, which was launched in 1962 after the success of Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart and, during the 1970s and '80s, riffed off the company's windmill-themed publisher's mark with an X-capped monogram enclosing the book's series number (175). Tight, square spine has some cosmetic creasing. Former owner name, location, and date to the inside front cover, but interior is else clean and unmarked. Moderate edge-wear and light toning to the pages. 113 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
